This week is going to be one to remember, as Tulsa hosts a variety of activities and events, May 15th through the 21st. From concerts to truck parades, you won't want to miss a thing.
Start the week off with one of the hottest concerts to come to Tulsa this year. Chainsmokers has become a worldwide phenomenon with their hit singles “Closer” and “Don't Let Me Down”. The duo performs at the BOK Center May 16th. Doors open at 7:00 PM.
If you are a creative, an entrepreneur, or just enjoy hearing about the next big thing, check out Tulsa StartUp Series, Wednesday night. Powered by the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, this competition has been called the Tulsa version of Shark Tank, as inventors pitch their big ideas for a chance to win up to $15,000. Be at 36 Degrees North to watch the top five finalists prove the worth of their ideas.
If you're a born and raised Tulsan, then you know all about the Blue Dome Arts Festival and Mayfest, both running May 19th through the 21st. For the past 14 years, these festivals have provided exceptional food, art, and entertainment for all ages. Local artists show off their craft, including handmade jewelry, woodwork, photography, paintings, and clothing. These Tulsa-specific pieces are not sold anywhere else. While you're shopping, live music keeps the energy up all through the evening. Whether you're into country, rock, or hip hop, a variety of talent is scheduled to perform all weekend long. Of course, Tulsa's famous food trucks will be there to satisfy every craving. With over 22 mouth-watering options, you won't want to leave until you've tried a taste of everything.
For some, the sound of smooth acoustic makes them weak. For others, it's the deep rumble of a super rig. If trucks are your passion, be sure to check out the 2017 Shell Rotella SuperRigs event happening at the Exchange Center at Expo Square, May 18th through 20th. The event is followed by a parade ending at Guthrie Green in the Brady Arts District. Mingle with other truck junkies and see some of the sickest rigs in the state as the truck parade runs from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Fireworks, courtesy of the Tulsa Drillers, to follow.
Making it's return for the fourth year in a row, Hop Jam is coming to Tulsa May 21st. As Oklahoma's largest craft beerand music festival, you can drink your way through over 200 beer options, try local food trucks, and enjoy an exceptional concert from Tulsa's very own, Hanson. Bring the kids as Hop Jam also features a family friendly concert on a separate stage.
