Who doesn't love dressing up, seeing your favorite characters come to life, and hanging with fellow gamers and anime-lovers? July 14th through 16th, at the Cox Business Center, Tokyo in Tulsa is hosting a variety of vendors featuring shopping, music, art, and more! People come from all across the U.S. to attend Oklahoma's largest gaming and Japanese culture convention. This years theme is pirates versus ninjas. So bring your best wooden leg or samurai sword and check out this one-of-a-kind event.
If you have yet to visit An Affair of the Heart, then this is your chance! This traveling exhibit features some of the most unique and beautiful handmade creations, from blankets to clothing, gourmet foods, and all-natural beauty products. This event lands in Tulsa from July 14th to the 16th and costs only $8 for all three days. Kids are welcome! In fact, children 12 and under are given free admission. Drive out to the River Spirit Expo Center this week and see why An Affair of the Heart is one of the biggest annual events in Tulsa.
Whether or not you're a fitness buff, you can enjoy participating in the Blacklight Run on July 15th. This 5k race doesn't care if you finish first as long as you're having fun. Wear a white T-shirt and as you progress through the run, you will find yourself aglow in UV Neon Glow Powder. Special blacklight zones will show off your colors. Feel free to stop for a selfie or two. The race begins at 9:00 PM at Tulsa Raceway Park. Check-in starts at 6:00 PM and registration is required, so visit their website and secure your spot today.
One of my favorite ways to cool off in the summer heat is to enjoy a juicy, cool bowl of fresh peaches. And my absolute favorite spot to pick them is at the Porter Peach Festival. From July 13th to July 15th, check out this awesome event and taste the world-famous fruits. The festival includes live music, arts and crafts, and even a 5k race. This event is located in Porter, about a 30 minute drive from your Tulsa home, so plan accordingly.
Both poets and rappers tend to think they've each mastered the smooth craft of lyricism. See which is the true champion at the Poets Vs. Rappers event, Friday, July 14th. Head to Living Arts of Tulsa at 8:00 PM and be part of an audience that directly decides the winners. Admission is only $7, and a cash bar is available for everyone 21 years of age and older. If you wish to participate in the contest, the cost to defend your title is a mere $3.
